Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for a pivotal role in our offshore HVDC transmission team. You will deliver technical leadership across design reviews, testing, commissioning, and lifecycle development of HVDC projects.

You will coordinate with clients and internal teams to ensure robust designs, while engaging with professional bodies and maintaining regulatory compliance. The role offers hybrid working and opportunities for Chartership support.

Qualifications

• Qualified in Electrical Engineering or working towards CEng.
• Experience with HVDC system design, protection and control.
• Ability to coordinate across project disciplines and external teams.
• Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements for electrical projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical advice for HVDC OEM design reviews.
• Witness HVDC OEM factory testing, on-site inspections, and commissioning.
• Develop HVDC projects including bid preparation/review.
• Develop technical specifications for HVDC converters.
• Design primary plant layouts for HVDC converter stations.
• Design reviews of HVDC control and protection.
• Input engineering design across lifecycle stages of major electrical power projects.
• Coordinate with client project teams and internal disciplines.
• Provide OEM support services.
• Supervise site pre-commissioning and commissioning oversight.
• Conduct due diligence.
• Provide technical expert services.
