Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our offshore transmission team in the UK. You will provide expert technical advice on HVDC OEM design reviews and witness factory testing, inspections, and commissioning across HVDC projects.

The role involves developing HVDC projects, preparing bids, and designing converter station layouts while coordinating with multiple disciplines and client teams.

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrical Engineer (CEng or working towards)
• Understanding HVDC Station Engineering, Control & Protection
• Ability to coordinate across project disciplines and external teams
• Interest in engaging with professional bodies like CIGRE, IET

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical advice for HVDC OEM design reviews
• Witness HVDC OEM factory testing, on-site inspections, and commissioning of HVDC projects
• Develop HVDC projects, including technology review/selection and bid preparation/review
• Develop technical specifications for HVDC converters
• Design primary plant layouts for HVDC Converter stations
• Design reviews of HVDC Control and Protection
• Provide engineering input to major electrical infrastructure projects through lifecycle stages
• Coordinate with client project teams and internal disciplines
• Provide OEM Support Services
• Supervise site pre-commissioning and commissioning oversight
• Conduct due diligence
• Provide technical expert services
