Job summary

WSP Global Inc. in the United Kingdom is seeking an Electrical Engineer with HVDC expertise to join our offshore transmission team. You will support asset owners and operators, contribute to lifecycle stages, and help deliver HVDC converter projects.

Responsibilities include providing expert design reviews, witnessing testing, drafting technical specifications, and coordinating across disciplines with clients and subcontractors. A Chartered status or progress toward CEng is preferred.

Qualifications

• CEng or working towards (preferred)
• Demonstrable understanding of HVDC Station Engineering, Control & Protection and System Studies
• Ability to coordinate across project disciplines, external subcontractors and remote offices to identify and mitigate technical risks
• Active involvement in professional bodies (CIGRE, IET) and related groups

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical advice for HVDC OEM design reviews
• Witness HVDC OEM factory testing, on-site inspections, and commissioning of HVDC projects
• Develop HVDC projects, including technology review/selection and bid preparation/review
• Develop technical specifications for HVDC converters
• Design primary plant layouts for HVDC converter stations
• Conduct design reviews of HVDC control and protection
• Coordinate with client teams and internal disciplines across lifecycle stages
• Provide OEM support services and supervise site pre-commissioning/commissioning
