Job summary
GE Vernova's Electrification Systems - Grid Solutions is seeking a Principal Engineer specializing in Voltage Source Converter control and protection for HVDC-VSC, LCC and renewables. You will guide technology decisions and lead multi-disciplinary design across the HVDC control & protection domain.
You will model, simulate, validate, and optimise control strategies using PSCAD/EMTP-RV and MATLAB/Simulink, while mentoring junior engineers and engaging with external bodies to advance technology
Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
- Significant experience in HVDC-LCC or VSC-based system design.
- Expertise in VSC control theory, modulation, and power system protection.
- Experience with PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, Dig SILENT or similar tools.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and oversight of HVDC control and protection solutions.
- Drive requirements, design, implementation, and deployment of control/protection systems.
- Lead validation, integration, and cross-disciplinary collaboration across teams.
- Mentor engineers and support talent development and succession planning.
