Job summary

GE Vernova is hiring a Lead Control Automation System Engineer to lead the requirement, design, and testing of the HVDC Control & Protection system. The role involves coordinating with NPI, ITO, OTR and Product Care, delivering compliant system integration, and mentoring engineering teams.

You will work across disciplines, drive standard design practices, and ensure timely, cost-effective delivery while maintaining high reliability of control systems in substation environments.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronics/Electrical engineering or related field
• Experience configuring Substation Bay Controllers/ merging units/ IEC61850 IEDs / HMI / SCADA
• Knowledge of IEC61850, Ethernet-based protocols and cybersecurity best practices
• Experience in development of electrical designs for industrial control systems

Responsibilities

• Lead overall requirement, design, implementation, and testing of digital control system for HVDC Control & Protection
• Configure IEC61850 IEDs via vendor tools and system configuration tools
• Generate SCL files for system integration
• Lead testing of IEC61850 communications with tools like IEDScout, Wireshark
• Coordinate HVDC control system with Balance of Plant and SCADA
• Define main IO lists and analyze signal interfaces
• Coach and develop department talent
• Ensure documentation and high-quality deliverables on time
