Job summary

AECOM is seeking a HV Substation Design engineer to lead design delivery on major energy infrastructure projects in the UK and Ireland. You will produce primary plant layouts for HV substations, develop equipment specifications, and contribute to FEED and detailed design with multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Consultancy/utility energy sector experience.
• Client experience with UK/Ireland transmission utilities.
• FEED designer, detailed design or owner's engineer experience.
• Experience designing HV infrastructure at concept and FEED stages.
• Full driver’s licence.
• Project management experience (budget, time and quality).
• Experience managing multi-discipline engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations.
• Lead engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
• Undertake Project Development/Pre-construction activities and optimal cable routing.
• Undertake equipment specifications for HV Plant and associated equipment.
• Develop specifications with technology specialists and external partners.
• Develop tender specifications and undertake tender evaluations.
• Provide design assurance of tender documentation and supplier meetings.
• Review supplier designs during construction phase and support commissioning.
• Be a trusted partner to key clients and mentor junior team members.
• Drive excellence in delivery.
