Job summary

Ellen Tinkham School in Devon, UK is seeking a highly motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to lead The Hub sessions for sensory learners and early communicators. You will independently plan, schedule and deliver bespoke intervention programmes for students with complex needs.

The role is fixed term maternity cover starting February 2027, with 5 days per week during term time. DBS checks and safeguarding commitments are required.

Qualifications

• Experience planning, preparing, and delivering targeted interventions for learners with complex SEND.
• Experience recording incidents and safeguarding practices.
• Ability to lead groups and train colleagues.
• Strong time-management to run an efficient hub timetable.
• Knowledge of EHCP targets alignment with home: school objectives.
• Commitment to modelling best practice in behaviour and communication.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and independently deliver high-quality, differentiated intervention lessons for individuals and small groups.
• Organise an efficient Hub timetable and manage resources within an allocated budget.
• Gather meaningful assessment data to evidence student progress and inform reviews with teachers and parents.
• Model best practices in managing behaviour and safeguarding, with CPOMs reporting.
• Design and maintain a sensory learning space, using educational technology to boost engagement.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and support specialist training for the wider school team.
• Support structured lunchtime play and attend parents’ evenings to discuss intervention impact.
