Groundforce is a market-leading rental provider of excavation support systems for the water, civil engineering, and construction industries. We operate across multiple sites and are part of VP plc.

The Hire Desk Manager will lead a growing team of Hire Controllers, optimise daily operations, and drive performance improvements while maintaining high standards of customer service and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate with senior leaders on transformation projects and scalable processes.

• Proven leadership and people-management ability across multiple locations.
• Strong customer-service orientation and drive for service excellence.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Clear and professional communication across departments and sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor Hire Controllers, including Senior Hire Controllers and their teams.
• Foster a collaborative culture with clear KPIs across locations.
• Oversee day-to-day operations ensuring consistency and efficiency.
• Conduct performance reviews and develop talent for succession.
• Own recruitment, onboarding and L&D collaboration for new hires.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and handle escalations professionally.
• Keep accurate records and manage systems, stock checks and QC measures.
• Generate performance reports for proactive decision-making.
• Ensure health, safety and regulatory compliance across desks.
• Collaborate with UK management on cross-functional projects.
• Contribute to national initiatives and system improvements.
