Job summary

Triumph Consultants Ltd in Manchester is seeking an experienced Highways Engineer to lead a city-wide programme addressing persistent access and maintenance issues across highways, drainage, and street cleansing. You will collaborate with residents, businesses, contractors and operational teams to develop practical solutions and ensure safe, efficient delivery.

Qualifications

You’ll be an experienced highways professional with strong knowledge of highway maintenance, drainage, asset management and project/programme management.
Relevant Civil/Highways Engineering qualification or professional membership.
Proven highways, maintenance or infrastructure experience.
Strong project/programme management and contractor management skills.
Knowledge of drainage, traffic management and road-space requirements.
Experience managing budgets, risks and multidisciplinary programmes.
Experience with Alloy/Causeway and GMRAPS would be advantageous.
Good understanding of CDM, RAMS, health & safety and highway legislation.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

Lead programmes addressing persistent access and maintenance issues.
Use asset and operational data to identify priorities and develop targeted programmes.
Coordinate highway maintenance, drainage, cleansing, street lighting and network activities.
Manage contractors, traffic management, road-space requirements and site activity.
Engage with residents, businesses, community groups and elected Members.
Monitor budgets, risks, resources, performance and delivery timescales.
Prepare business cases, delivery plans, reports and governance information.
Support highway asset management using Alloy/Causeway and similar systems.
Help reduce maintenance backlogs, complaints and drainage-related issues.
Ensure compliance with CDM 2015, health & safety, highway legislation and maintenance standards.
