Job summary

Triumph Consultants Ltd in Manchester is seeking an experienced Highways Engineer to lead a city-wide programme addressing persistent access and maintenance issues across highways, drainage, and street cleansing. Qualifications

• You’ll be an experienced highways professional with strong knowledge of highway maintenance, drainage, asset management and project/programme management.
• Relevant Civil/Highways Engineering qualification or professional membership.
• Proven highways, maintenance or infrastructure experience.
• Strong project/programme management and contractor management skills.
• Knowledge of drainage, traffic management and road-space requirements.
• Experience managing budgets, risks and multidisciplinary programmes.
• Experience with Alloy/Causeway and GMRAPS would be advantageous.
• Good understanding of CDM, RAMS, health & safety and highway legislation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Pay Rate: £29.60 per hour PAYE, with flexible holiday pay

Hours: 35 hours per week

Length of Contract: 12 months

Location: Manchester, M60 2LA

Working Arrangements: Hybrid working typically 1-2 days each week Town Hall, Manchester with the remainder on site or working from home.

Must have access to a personal vehicle and hold a driving licence, business mileage is payable for approved business journeys.

Our client is looking for an experienced Highways Engineer to lead a city-wide programme tackling persistent access issues that prevent essential highway, drainage, gully and street cleansing works.

This is a varied, hands‑on role combining highways engineering, programme management, stakeholder engagement and operational delivery. You’ll work with residents, businesses, contractors and operational teams to develop practical solutions and ensure essential maintenance can be delivered safely and efficiently.

The Role

Lead programmes addressing persistent access and maintenance issues.

About You

You’ll be an experienced highways professional with strong knowledge of highway maintenance, drainage, asset management and project/programme management.
