Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is recruiting a Principal Engineer based in our Newcastle office to lead the design and delivery of highway improvement and active travel schemes for Local Authority clients. You will work on projects with national partners and be a key design lead and project manager within a collaborative team.

You will contribute to bids, client relationships and technical reviews while mentoring junior staff and promoting innovative solutions in a flexible, hybrid working culture.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering and chartered/ Incorporated member status.
• Experience in highway alignment design with active travel and bus priority measures.
• Strong knowledge of DMRB, LTN 1/20, TSRGD and local authority design guidance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of active travel, highway improvement, bus priority and placemaking schemes for Local Authority clients as well as elements of design for larger projects.
• Act as Design Lead and Project Manager on transportation projects.
• Support fee proposals, bids and business development activities.
