Greene King’s Blue Posts in St James's is seeking an Assistant Manager to help run a flagship Central London pub, delivering high-volume hospitality and leading a skilled team during busy shifts. You’ll drive service quality, customer experience and commercial performance in a fast-paced, wet-led environment.

This role offers progression toward General Manager with strong leadership, coaching, and engagement during major sporting events and live entertainment.

Qualifications

• Previous hospitality management experience - essential.
• Experience in busy, high-volume pubs or similar venues.
• Experience managing large teams and leading busy shifts.
• Confidence working in a fast-paced, wet-led operation.
• Strong understanding of customer experience and hospitality.
• Commercial awareness with ability to spot sales opportunities.
• Confidence managing sporting events and peak periods.
• Hands-on leadership style with team, not office-based.
• Strong communication and ability to develop staff.
• Ambition to progress towards General Manager.

Responsibilities

• Support the General Manager in day-to-day running of a high-volume Central London pub.
• Take ownership of shifts and lead the team during busy services.
• Coach, develop and motivate the team to deliver great hospitality.
• Create an energetic, welcoming atmosphere for regulars and visitors.
• Drive sales and maximise opportunities across a busy wet-led operation.
• Lead from the front during major sporting events and peak periods.
• Maintain high standards of service, safety, cleanliness and compliance.
• Support live music, sporting events and other activities that bring the pub to life.
• Build relationships with customers and become a familiar local face.
• Support the General Manager in driving the business forward and preparing for next steps.
