Job summary

Schenk UK is seeking an experienced HGV Technician Team Leader to lead and support a workshop team, remaining hands-on with maintenance, inspections and repairs. You will be the first line of workshop leadership, allocating workload, guiding diagnosis, and ensuring work is completed safely and to high standards.

You will work with the Workshop Controller and Manager to maximise fleet availability while meeting manufacturer and legislative requirements.

Qualifications

Significant experience maintaining and repairing HGV tractor units, trailers and tanker equipment.
Strong technical knowledge of HGV maintenance and repair.
Experience leading or supervising a workshop team is desirable.
Experience managing competing priorities within a commercial transport environment.
Good knowledge of DVSA maintenance requirements and fleet compliance.
Strong leadership and people-management skills.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

Lead, motivate and support a team of HGV Technicians.
Allocate workload across the shift to maximise workshop efficiency.
Monitor productivity, quality and performance against agreed standards.
Provide technical guidance, coaching and support on complex repairs and fault diagnosis.
Carry out effective shift handovers to ensure continuity of work.
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work.
