Job summary

Cadent Gas Ltd in the United Kingdom is seeking a Control Engineer to support and develop the control, telemetry and SCADA systems that ensure safe, efficient operation of Cadent's gas network. You will work in the Emergency Control Centre (ECC) to maintain real-time visibility and control, coordinating changes and ensuring data integrity across critical infrastructure.

This role requires collaboration with Control Room teams, Energy Operations and Information Systems.

Qualifications

• GCSEs Grade C/4 or above in STEM-related subjects.
• Qualifications beyond GCSE level in STEM, Engineering, IT, Computer Science or related discipline are desirable.
• Strong customer focus and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience supporting or working within change management environments.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and disciplines.
• A collaborative approach and proven ability to work as part of a high-performing team.
• An appreciation of control room environments, operational technology systems and the need for rapid fault response.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex technical issues and their wider operational impacts.
• The ability to apply sound engineering judgement based on evidence, experience and risk.
• Knowledge of Safe Control of Operations (SCO) principles would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support the technology, telemetry and control room systems enabling safe, efficient operation of Cadent's gas network.
• Progress changes to SCADA and telemetry systems and maintain system configuration.
• Ensure data integrity and robust operational processes across ECC systems.
• Collaborate with Control Room teams, Energy Operations and Information Systems.
• Provide expert technical knowledge to shape ECC, telemetry and control room strategies.
• Apply sound engineering judgement and drive continuous improvement in system performance.
