Job summary

Trailmix Ltd is seeking a Lead Game Engineer in London to steer technical direction and people leadership for our next live game. You’ll stay hands-on, write code, and enable others, ensuring scalable live operations with strong architecture and delivery accountability.

You’ll manage an engineering team, set standards, and partner with Product/Design to align scope and feasibility, driving sustainable velocity while preserving player experience.

Qualifications

• Experience shipping into a live game on a regular cadence.
• Line-managing engineers and supporting growth.
• Hands-on AI tooling in engineering work.
• Strong architectural understanding of CI/CD, testing, performance and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Own the game’s architecture and technical direction; define decisions you own and delegate.
• Match engineering investment to risk; keep live data changes fast and safe.
• Uphold engineering standards, code quality, and performance; stay hands-on when needed.
• Set architecture and standards for years of growth; plan for scalability.
• Line manage the engineering team, including Senior Engineers; conduct 1:1s.
• Deliver regular feedback and support career progression and development planning.
• Own the New Game Project’s technical roadmap and lead the delivery team.
• Build and evolve live-service systems behind flags with incremental releases.
• Ensure telemetry, alerting, and on-call practices to catch issues quickly.
