Job summary

Wayve is seeking aSenior Functional Safety Engineer to lead ISO 26262‑driven safety activities for its autonomous driving software and vehicle integrations. You will collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to define safety concepts, perform HARAs/FFMAs/FTAs, and ensure compliance across platforms.

The role emphasizes hands‑on verification, development of safety cases, and risk mitigation strategies, within a hybrid, office‑based environment in London or Sunnyvale.

Qualifications

• Very good understanding of the functional safety development process per ISO 26262 with a minimum 5 years of applying the standard on different automotive systems, in particular parts 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9.
• Experience in conducting vehicle level testing activities at proving grounds to verify and validate the safety concept.

Responsibilities

• Lead functional safety activities for Wayve’s ADS and its integration into current and future vehicle platforms or third‑party safety‑critical systems.
• Develop safety work products for production projects and update safety processes with the compliance teams.
• Define test specifications and build the safety case with structured claims, arguments and evidence.
