Job summary

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) invites applications for a Senior Forestry Programme Engineer to lead a rolling five-year civil engineering programme for the Welsh Government Woodland Estate. You will supervise engineering delivery, secure consents, and advise across Forest Operations and Land Management with external stakeholders.

You will provide technical guidance, support safe-by-design principles, and drive excellence within the Integrated Engineering Team across Wales.

Qualifications

• Degree level in engineering or related technical subject or equivalent experience.
• Significant programme/multi-project management experience; toward professional accreditation (e.g., Prince2).
• Awareness of habitats/wildlife and related decision-making.
• Extensive knowledge of CDM2015 and health, safety & environmental risk management.
• Experience in drainage and water management in upland environments.
• Experience with road construction, earthworks and surveying.
• Strong ICT skills: AutoCAD, ArcGIS and MS Project.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Membership in a professional body (ICE or IAgrE).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior officers across NRW to secure consents and permissions.
• Mentor staff and champion health, safety, wellbeing and environmental objectives.
• Demonstrate project management across infrastructure and roads from planning to delivery.
• Maintain project documentation and organise programme meetings.
• Prepare, track and forecast project programmes and milestones.
• Manage financial, legal, commercial, operational and reputational risks.
• Incorporate specialist knowledge into pre-construction information and designs.
• Engage Local Planning Authorities and SuDS Boards to enable delivery.
