Job summary

Forestry England is seeking a Civil Engineer to help manage and deliver infrastructure projects across its forest estate. You will split time between site visits, design reviews, contractor engagement and project planning, taking ownership from concept to completion.

The role offers varied engineering challenges, autonomy and a chance to impact environments and communities across the UK, with hybrid working and a strong focus on sustainability.

Qualifications

• From a few years’ industry experience, you’ll broaden project exposure and take ownership of work.
• Qualified in Civil Engineering with a relevant degree or equivalent.
• Knowledge of contractor management and contract administration is desirable.
• Understanding of CDM regulations and construction health and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities; proactive, solution-focused attitude.

Responsibilities

• Manage delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the forest estate.
• Oversee maintenance and improvement of assets including roads, bridges, reservoirs, car parks and visitor facilities.
• Manage contractors, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification.
• Undertake inspections and condition assessments of civil engineering assets.
• Prepare and review specifications, designs and technical documentation.
• Support procurement, contract management and project delivery activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues, consultants and external stakeholders.
• Promote sustainable and low-carbon engineering solutions.
