Job summary

The Ministry of Justice is recruiting a Forensic or Clinical Registered Psychologist to work within Psychology Services in Youth Custody Services. The role focuses on risk assessment of prisoners, research, consultancy, and staff training, with supervision of trainee psychologists and contribution to CPD and HCPC registration.

It is an offender facing, non-operational position with line management responsibilities and non-rotational duties, requiring professional judgment and collaboration

Responsibilities

• Offer authoritative professional advice on targets and objectives for relevant offenders and advise on best locations for offenders.
• Provide professional opinion to teams conducting reports such as lifer or parole reports.
• Develop strategy and plans of activity for areas of operation, including managing assessments and interviews for indeterminate sentences.
• Provide consultancy support to colleagues and conduct relevant research with data gathering and analysis.
• Supervise trainee forensic psychology staff and provide training and mentoring to trainee psychologists and staff.
• Lead on risk assessment and risk management for offenders and participate in risk assessments of offenders to determine risk of harm and reoffending.
