Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain seeks a permanent psychologist within the Psychology Services team of Youth Custody Services, run by HMPPS in the Ministry of Justice. The role covers risk assessment, research, consultancy, staff training, and intervention work, including supervision of trainees.

Hybrid working may be available, UK only, with HCPC registration required. The post involves leading risk assessments, advising on targets and locations, and delivering or overseeing complex treatment

Qualifications

• Qualified forensic or clinical psychologist.
• Completed training in effective models of treatment and best practice.
• HCPC registration as a clinician.
• Professional background in psychology.
• Experience supervising others in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead risk assessment and risk management for offenders.
• Provide consultancy to teams on psychology services and outcomes.
• Supervise, mentor and support trainee psychologists and staff.
• Act as expert witness in court proceedings for the Ministry of Justice.
