Job summary

List Recruitment in Grimsby is seeking an experienced Lead Estimator to join our fabrication team. This hands-on role leads a small estimating team and is responsible for producing accurate, competitive tenders for plating and structural steelwork fabrication and installation.

You will work closely with workshop and projects teams, review drawings and tender documents, and help manage pricing, risks, and delivery.

Qualifications

Experience leading or mentoring estimators.
Proven ability to price labour, materials and subcontract work.
Strong understanding of plating and structural steelwork fabrication.
Ability to read drawings and specifications to produce cost estimates.
Good commercial awareness and tender delivery understanding.
Knowledge of piping estimation (isometrics and take-offs).

Responsibilities

Lead and allocate work for the estimating team.
Prepare and review estimates for plating, structural steelwork fabrication and installation.
Review drawings and tender documents to define scope and risks.
Calculate costs for labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Coordinate with workshop, projects team and senior management on pricing and bids.
Visit client sites to understand scope when required.
Prepare tender documentation and hand over to delivery teams.
Monitor workload and run team meetings.
Support piping estimates when required.
