Job summary

NRL Group is seeking an experienced Estimator or Senior Estimator to join their Teesside operation. You will prepare detailed estimates for structural steelwork and turnkey projects, interpreting drawings and specifications to produce accurate quantities and prices.

You will engage suppliers and subcontractors, benchmark pricing, and support post-tender negotiations. The role combines technical estimating with commercial insight, requires strong Excel skills, and offers career progression within

Qualifications

• Proven experience estimating structural steel or construction projects.
• Understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Excellent commercial awareness and cost control skills.
• Strong analytical capabilities with attention to detail.
• Effective communicator with clients, suppliers, and colleagues at all levels.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for structural steelwork and turnkey projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, 3D models, and tender docs to generate quantities.
• Issue enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors, evaluate quotations, negotiate pricing.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project teams for viable bids.
• Identify risks, opportunities, exclusions, and value-engineering solutions.
• Prepare and submit tender proposals, quotations, and pricing schedules within deadlines.
• Support post-tender clarifications and commercial negotiations.
• Maintain pricing, tender, and benchmarking records in company systems.
