A growing SME consultancy is seeking an experienced Lead Environmental Consultant to influence environmental strategies and manage a variety of projects. The Opportunity

We are working with a growing SME consultancy who are seeking an experienced Lead Environmental Consultant to support a range of environmental and sustainability projects. This is a key role, offering autonomy and the opportunity to lead technical delivery while working closely with clients and internal stakeholders.

The Role

Location: Cheshire
Duration: 6-month contract
Hours: 40 hours per week
Rate: £45–55 per hour (Ltd)
Company Type: SME consultancy

Your duties and responsibilities will be
  • Lead and manage environmental consultancy projects from inception through to delivery
  • Provide technical expertise across environmental impact assessments, environmental management, and regulatory compliance
  • Act as the technical authority, reviewing reports and ensuring high-quality outputs
  • Liaise with clients, regulators, and project teams to ensure environmental requirements are met
  • Support and mentor junior consultants within the business
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of environmental processes and best practice
You will have the following qualifications & experience
  • A degree in a relevant environmental discipline
  • Excellent knowledge of environmental legislation and policy
  • Professional affiliation with or membership of an appropriate professional body
  • Significant relevant experience in a consultancy environment or other relevant industry experience
  • Experience of providing competent environmental advice to clients and colleagues.
  • Strong customer focus, striving for excellence by understanding, anticipating, and meeting the needs of others
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Exceptional time management skills, including the ability to manage and deliver multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Strong IT skills, including knowledge of Office 365, OneDrive, and SharePoint
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Must be eligible to live and work in the UK
