Job summary

Rolls-Royce SMR is recruiting for two Lead Engineer for Customer Projects roles within the Components & Mechanical Equipment function. You will bridge Customer Project teams with engineering teams, translating complex customer requirements into clear work packages and prioritised delivery plans.

You’ll coordinate across Integrated Product Teams, manage priorities and resources, and influence decisions to balance programme needs with standardisation.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Significant experience in a complex engineering environment with technical delivery and project-facing responsibilities.
• Experience with mechanical equipment, engineered products or complex systems in a regulated industry.
• Ability to influence stakeholders, build consensus and deliver outcomes within a matrix organisation.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary interface between Customer Project teams and Components & Mechanical Equipment, ensuring requirements are translated into deliverable work packages.
• Coordinate customer-led demand across Integrated Product Teams, establishing priorities and resource needs.
• Build relationships across engineering, programme and commercial functions to align stakeholders.
• Provide visibility of progress, risks and dependencies and support proactive decision-making.
• Drive standardisation and challenge assumptions to guide delivery decisions.
