Job summary

The Beardwood Hospital is part of Circle Health Group and has an opportunity for a Lead Engineer to join the Maintenance Department. This full-time role is 37.5 hours per week with a flexible shift pattern and a salary of up to £46,000 per year.

Responsibilities include engineering maintenance, budget management, and risk and safety oversight across the hospital and cluster sites. The role requires engineering qualifications, leadership experience and a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds Part 3, HNC or NVQ Level 4 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• CSCS or ECS card at the appropriate level if electrically qualified.
• Experience in engineering maintenance, ideally in a hospital or critical services.
• Experience in team leadership, task allocation and performance management.
• Strong health and safety knowledge including risk management and Legionella prevention.

Responsibilities

• Provide Engineering Maintenance and breakdown support to the hospital.
• Manage and report on maintenance budgets; review and comment as needed.
• Manage environment and energy reduction initiatives.
• Offer Technical, Health, Safety and Environmental support to EDs and Hospital Managers.
• Collaborate with senior leaders to implement facilities management tools.
• Liaise with Regional Engineering Manager and Hospital Operations Manager.
• Cover cluster sites to meet on-call requirements.
• Attend regional/cluster meetings and training courses as required.
• Provide support to sites in your cluster for holidays, sickness or vacancies.

Lead Engineer

Salary: Up to £46,000.00 per year

The Beardwood Hospital is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Lead Engineer to join our team of staff in the Maintenance Department.

This is a full- time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties Of This Role Include

• The provision of Engineering Maintenance and breakdown support to the hospital.
• Management and reporting of R & M budgets, reviewing and commenting as appropriate.
• Management of Environment and energy reduction
• Provide competent Technical, Health, Safety and Environmental support & assistance to ED’s and local Hospital Managers, Project Managers and / or Minor works Managers.
• Work with the senior leadership team to develop and implement the management tools necessary to operate their facilities to the required standard.
• Liaise with the Regional Engineering Manager and Hospital Operations Manager to support and advise on appropriate engineering issues
• Cover your cluster sites to meet on-call requirements.
• Attend regional/cluster meetings and training courses when required
• Provide support to sites within your cluster when required for Holiday, sickness, Vacancy’s, and or general support provision

Applicants Should Meet The Following Criteria

• City & Guilds Part 3, HNC, or NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• CSCS card or ECS card (if electrically qualified) at the appropriate level.
• Proven experience in engineering maintenance, ideally within a hospital or similar critical services environment.
• Experience in team leadership, task allocation, and performance management.
• Comprehensive understanding of health and safety legislation, including risk management, fire safety, and Legionella prevention.
• Strong fault-finding, organisational, and communication skills.
