Job summary

Funding Circle in London is seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to join the CRI Engineering team within the MPX group of Core Services Engineering. You will lead on complex, strategic initiatives spanning CRL and Investor Management, delivering reliable, scalable services that power lending and investor relationships.

The role requires technical authority across Ruby, Python and Clojure, a passion for mentoring, and a proven ability to align engineering work with business outcomes.

Qualifications

• A technical leader with a track record of owning complex, ambiguous delivery across team boundaries.
• Mentoring and coaching, with feedback embedded in work.
• Spotting cross-team friction early and navigating priorities to resolve it.
• Experience in at least one major programming language (Python, Ruby, Clojure).
• Recognised technical authority; colleagues seek your advice and trust your judgement.
• Proven ability to leverage AI tooling to raise the bar for team delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams to deliver large, complex initiatives and own outcomes.
• Champion engineering-led improvements and set cross‑team standards, including AI use.
• Act as technical authority and model effective AI tooling usage.
• Drive technical strategy aligned with business outcomes across products.
• Collaborate with Engineering Manager and Product Manager on vision and roadmaps.
• Make architectural decisions that are durable, scalable and secure and own outcomes.
