Job summary

Winsearch is seeking a Lead Electrical Maintenance Engineer at our Wigan site (Standish or Pemberton) to support the Maintenance Manager. You'll supervise technicians daily and drive projects from concept to delivery, ensuring production runs smoothly.

You will promote the CMMS, manage safety, do fault finding, plan preventative maintenance, and use data to improve performance. The role requires apprentice-level qualifications and a proactive, collaborative approach with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Proven maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Completed Electrical or Mechanical apprenticeship.
• Excellent verbal & written communication and health & safety commitment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise technicians on a day-to-day basis and support Maintenance Manager.
• Deputise for Maintenance Manager as required.
• Monitor equipment condition and report abnormalities/risks.
• Prioritise work to focus on preventative maintenance and critical tasks.
• Identify replacement parts and order via approved channels.
• Manage change requests for non-like-for-like replacements.
• Ensure tasks are completed safely and audit performance.
• Diagnose issues across equipment with cross-functional teams.
• Communicate timelines for overhauls and return to service clearly.
• Use data to drive decision making.
• Identify and action training needs for team members.

Job description

Lead Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Wigan (Standish or Pemberton Site)

Monday to Friday from 8am to 4.30pm

Salary Depending on Experience

The Role:

This role is to support the Maintenance Manager in leading the direct and wider teams to support the effective running of production. Direct day-to-day supervision of technicians is required whilst also seeing projects through from concept to delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that the internal CMMS is promoted and utilized with detailed inputs by all team members
• Effectively deputise for the Maintenance Manager as required
• Monitor equipment condition, reporting abnormalities and risks
• Set clear priorities and ensure the function is well organised, with resource focused effectively on preventative maintenance and opportunities of greatest importance to the business
• Identify replacement parts and order via approved channels
• Undertake management of change requests for approval when replacements are not like-for-like
• Ensure all tasks are completed safely whilst always looking at ways to improve, audit personnel task completion and feedback when standards are below expectations
• Confidence in diagnosing issues across a range of equipment whilst working with cross functional teams to support investigations
• Ensure timelines for equipment overhauls and return to service are communicated clearly, concisely and persuasively
• Use data to drive decision making
• Effectively manage team members ensuring that training and development needs are identified and actioned

The Candidate:

Essential:

• Proven experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing environment
• Completed an Electrical or Mechanical apprenticeship
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong technical fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
• Experience working within highly regulated environments
• Strong commitment to health, safety, and maintaining the highest standards of work

Desirable:

• BEng (Hons) Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering

Essential:

• COMPEX Certification
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Qualification
