Job summary

Michael Page seeks a Lead Electrical Maintenance Engineer based in Wigan to oversee day-to-day electrical maintenance in a manufacturing facility, ensuring reliable operation of process equipment. You will lead a team, work with PLCs and control systems, and deliver improvements safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities include advancing CMMS usage, supervising technicians, and driving preventative maintenance while aligning with health and safety standards in a complex production

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification in electrical engineering or related field.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• COMPEX.
• Experience with electrical maintenance in industrial/manufacturing environments.
• Proven ability to lead and manage a team.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards.
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with PLCs and control systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain accurate use of the CMMS across the maintenance team.
• Deputise for the Maintenance Manager when required.
• Monitor the condition and performance of process equipment, identifying risks and escalating issues.
• Prioritise resources to maximise preventative maintenance, plant availability and reliability.
• Maintain and support assets including pressure vessels, pumps, valves, pipework, tanks, mixers, heat exchangers and associated process equipment.
• Source and order replacement parts through approved suppliers.
• Manage change requests for non-like-for-like equipment replacements and upgrades.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely, compliantly and to a high standard.
• Diagnose mechanical and process equipment faults, supporting root cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Coordinate equipment overhauls, shutdown activities and return-to-service plans, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders.
• Use maintenance and production data to drive decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead, coach and develop team members, identifying training and competency requirements.
• Drive improvements in maintenance processes, safety performance, equipment reliability and operational efficiency.

Description

As a Lead Electrical Maintenance Engineer, based in Wigan, you’ll oversee the day-to-day maintenance of electrical systems in an Manufacturing and Production setting. Your role will ensure machinery and equipment run efficiently, supporting smooth operations across the site.

As the Lead Electrical Maintenance Engineer you will support the Maintenance Manager in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of production and process equipment. Lead maintenance activities, supervise technicians, and deliver engineering improvement projects from concept through to completion across a chemical manufacturing environment.

Job Offer

• Salary between £48,000 and £58,000, dependent on the level of experience.
• Company pension scheme with a 3% employer contribution and 5% employee contribution.
