GM Performance Power Units seeks a senior engineer to lead the integration of the MGU within the Formula 1 hybrid powertrain, driving performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

You will oversee prototype development, dyno testing, and data-driven iterations to deliver race-ready solutions while steering design reviews, FMEA, and documentation in line with FIA F1 rules. A focus on next-gen materials and manufacturing advances will help scale high-quality e-motor production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related).
  • 8+ years in high-speed electric motors, motorsport ERS, or hybrid powertrains.
  • Experience with CAD NX, CAE/FEA, and PLM (Teamcenter).
  • Hands-on motorsport prototyping, dynamometer testing, and track-side support are advantages.

Responsabilités

  • Lead cross-disciplinary teams—electromagnetics, mechanical design, thermal, controls, and advanced manufacturing—to integrate and optimize the MGU within the hybrid powertrain.
  • Oversee prototype development, dynamometer testing programs, and data-driven iterations to achieve race-ready solutions.
  • Direct design reviews, FMEA processes, documentation, and FIA F1 regulatory compliance for MGU power, weight, RPM limits, and safety interfaces.
  • Drive research into next-gen materials and manufacturing advances to enable scalable, high-quality e-motor production.

  • Lead cross-disciplinary teams-electromagnetics, mechanical design, thermal, controls, and advanced manufacturing-to integrate and optimize the MGU within the hybrid powertrain, ensuring maximum power density, efficiency, and race reliability. Oversee prototype development, dynamometer testing programs, and data-driven iterations guiding engineering functions to achieve validated, race-ready solutions. Direct design reviews, FMEA processes, documentation, and compliance with FIA F1 regulations on MGU power, weight, RPM limits, and safety interfaces. Foster innovation by driving research into next-gen materials (e.g., advanced composites, magnetic alloys), manufacturing advances, and DFM/DFA principles to enable scalable, high-quality e-motor production.
