GM Performance Power Units in Cardiff, United Kingdom, seeks an experienced engineering leader to drive development of the MGU e-motor components for the hybrid powertrain. You will oversee cross-disciplinary teams—electromagnetics, mechanical design, thermal, controls, and advanced manufacturing—to maximize power density, efficiency, and race reliability.

• Bachelor's in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related).
• Masters/PhD with 5+ years preferred.

• Lead cross-disciplinary teams-electromagnetics, mechanical design, thermal, controls, and advanced manufacturing-to integrate and optimize the MGU within the hybrid powertrain, ensuring maximum power density, efficiency, and race reliability. Oversee prototype development, dynamometer testing programs, and data-driven iterations guiding engineering functions to achieve validated, race-ready solutions. Direct design reviews, FMEA processes, documentation, and compliance with FIA F1 regulations on MGU power, weight, RPM limits, and safety interfaces. Foster innovation by driving research into next-gen materials (e.g., advanced composites, magnetic alloys), manufacturing advances, and DFM/DFA principles to enable scalable, high-quality e-motor production.
