Job summary

H&MV Engineering is seeking an Experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join our engineering department. You will manage all engineering and design for HV projects across sites in the south of England, working closely with stakeholders to ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery.

You will lead design teams, review submittals, coordinate interfaces with construction and subcontractors, and mentor engineers.

Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering degree or time-served apprentice with demonstrable industry experience.
  • Extensive experience in an HV/EHV design or engineering role.
  • Familiarity with design software ETAP, EPLAN and AutoCAD is advantageous.
  • Strong leadership, teamwork and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design, engineering and project management teams to deliver HV projects meeting client, scope and electrical requirements.
  • Manage construction‑phase designs, providing weekly feedback and lessons learned to the design team.
  • Attend and contribute to design, construction and subcontractor meetings, managing site interfaces and subcontractor performance.
  • Oversee technical submittals, material approvals, FATs, and procurement of electrical materials and equipment.
  • Carry out daily site walks to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure safety and quality compliance.
  • Review installations against approved designs, raise QA/QC issues, and manage ITP setup and close‑out.
  • Maintain project controls and communication, including MS Teams setup and weekly progress photo reporting.

About the Role:

  • Maintain project controls and communication, including MS Teams setup and weekly progress photo reporting.
Key Requirements:
  • Have an Electrical Engineering degree, or be a time served apprentice with demonstrable industry experience
  • Possess considerable experience in a electrical design or electrical engineering role within the HV or EHV sector.
  • Working knowledge of design software to include ETAP, Eplan, AutoCAD, would be advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Have people leadership skills.
  • Have strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Be a team player who demonstrates high level of initiative
