Job summary

Skillmatch Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer for a major facilities management contractor in the Greater London area. You will deliver both planned and reactive FM maintenance across critical environments, guiding engineering teams and ensuring safe, compliant operations.

The role requires HV experience, HVAP status, 18th edition, and strong BMS/CAFM knowledge, with a track record of leading shifts, coordinating contractors, and driving energy efficiency improvements.

Qualifications

• NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of critical M&E systems, BMS, and CAFM platforms.
• Experience leading engineering teams in a shift environment.
• Excellent knowledge of health & safety and statutory compliance.
• HV Authorised Person (HVAP) status essential.
• Experience in a critical environment/data centre/high-profile site.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all PPMs, reactive tasks, and statutory compliance activities are completed within SLA
• Manage HVAP responsibilities including isolations, permits to work, and safe systems of work
• Lead and coordinate shift engineering operations within a critical environment
• Monitor and manage plant performance via BMS and CAFM systems
• Oversee incident management, escalations, and emergency response procedures
• Maintain accurate shift logs, technical reports, and operational documentation
• Supervise contractors and engineering teams to ensure safe and efficient delivery
• Support energy efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives
• Provide shift cover and operational support when required

We are looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer who wants to work in a diverse role where no two days are the same.

As the Lead Electrical Engineer , you will provide the delivery of both planned and reactive FM maintenance services.

• Excellent knowledge of health & safety and statutory compliance
• 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations qualification.
• Previous experience in a critical environment/data centre/high-profile commercial site
• HV Authorised Person (HVAP) status essential
• Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
