Job summary

Owen Daniels seeks an experienced Electrical Design Engineer in Manchester to design LV/HV networks, power generation and DC systems for BESS projects, and to produce electrical designs, drawings and documentation.

You will liaise with clients, DNOs and suppliers, support multi-disciplinary projects and ensure safety is at the forefront while updating drawings to reflect as-built installations.

Qualifications

• HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.
• 5+ years in engineering/construction environment preferred.
• Strong AutoCAD experience for electrical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design LV and HV electrical networks.
• Design power generation and distribution systems.
• Design DC systems for BESS projects.
• Produce electrical designs, drawings and technical documentation.
• Develop LV/HV protection schemes.
• Undertake cable sizing.
• Prepare specifications for switchboards, transformers and equipment.

• Support Projects, Sales and Service with technical requirements.
• Ensure designs meet high standards and safety requirements.
• Carry out site visits to support design development.

Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Manchester

Hours: Monday-Thursday 8:30am-5pm | Friday 8:30am-4pm

I'm currently working with an established business within the power generation, energy and battery storage sector who are looking to recruit an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing Design team in Manchester.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer who is looking to work across a diverse range of projects involving LV and HV electrical networks, power generation and distribution systems, and BESS projects.

The role will involve producing electrical designs, drawings and technical documentation, whilst working closely with Projects, Sales, Service, clients, DNOs and suppliers.

The Role

• Designing and developing LV and HV electrical networks
• Designing power generation and distribution systems
• Designing DC systems for BESS projects
• Producing electrical designs, drawings and technical documentation
• Developing LV/HV protection schemes
• Undertaking cable sizing
• Preparing specifications for switchboards, transformers and other electrical equipment
• Supporting multi-discipline engineering projects
• Liaising with clients, DNOs and suppliers
• Supporting the timely flow of technical information across projects
• Carrying out site visits to support design development
• Updating drawings and documentation to reflect as-built installations
• Supporting the Projects, Sales and Service teams with technical requirements
• Ensuring designs are produced to a high standard and with safety at the forefront

The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical engineering background, ideally with experience within power generation, electrical distribution, construction or a similar engineering environment.

You'll ideally have:

• HND / City & Guilds Level HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years' experience within an engineering or construction environment
• Strong AutoCAD experience with the ability to produce accurate electrical drawings
• Experience using Trimble and/or Amtech
• Experience working with LV and HV electrical systems
• Knowledge of electrical protection schemes and cable sizing
• Experience with power generation and distribution systems would be advantageous
• BESS / battery storage experience would be advantageous
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work effectively with clients, suppliers and internal teams
• Full UK driving licence
