Job summary

SYSTRA Ltd seeks a Principal Engineer to lead electrical design for rail and transport projects, delivering concepts, drawings and reports within budget and schedule. You will supervise teams, check work and sign off certificates, while upholding safety and CDM standards across multi-disciplinary projects.

You will establish design standards, contribute to office-wide technical development and engage with clients to ensure compliant, high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status preferred.
• Experience leading electrical design for railway and highway tunnels.
• Knowledge of CDM regulations and safety standards.
• Proven line management and budgeting experience.

Responsibilities

• Produce and approve design concepts, drawings and specifications.
• Establish internal design standards and process improvements.
• Work within project teams to achieve objectives.
• Supervise others and sign off design certificates.
• Prepare feasibility studies and detailed design reports.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and CDM regulations.
• Prepare engineering designs, calculations and oversee production.
• Assist in bids and expressions of interest.
• Manage project correspondence and client communications.
• Represent the Technical Directorate within the SYSTRA Group.
