Job summary

Advance TRS partners with a leading engineering and facilities management organisation to recruit a Senior Electrical Design Engineer focused on decarbonisation and energy solutions in Manchester. You will lead electrical design from concept through delivery, covering solar PV, BESS, LED lighting and heat pump integration within a multidisciplinary team.

You will coordinate across RIBA stages, ensure compliance with BS7671 and UK Building Regulations, and mentor junior engineers while supporting

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards.
• Strong LV electrical design background.
• Experience designing solar PV and low-carbon energy systems.
• Knowledge of DNO application processes.
• Experience across full RIBA design stages.
• Proficient in AutoCAD (Revit/BIM desirable).
• Understanding BS7671, IET Wiring Regulations, UK Building Regulations, CIBSE guidance, PAS2035, MCS Standards, Building Safety Act.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design and coordination of decarbonisation and sustainable retrofit projects.
• Produce detailed electrical designs from RIBA Stages 2-5 with calculations, SLDs, schematics, specs and reports.
• Design LV electrical infrastructure including Solar PV, BESS, LED lighting, smart controls, and heat pump integration.
• Manage DNO applications from feasibility through to approval.
• Coordinate designs with mechanical, energy and BIM teams.
• Review and approve designs to BS7671 and UK Building Regulations.
• Attend client meetings and provide technical guidance throughout delivery.
• Mentor junior engineers and support technical development.
• Support bids, proposals and design risk management.
