Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead drainage design on major highway and rail schemes across the UK, setting technical direction and guiding quality on multi-disciplinary projects.

You will develop others through coaching, mentor engineers, and contribute to drainage standards such as DMRB and SuDS. The role supports flexible hybrid working from our UK offices in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds or London.

Qualifications

• A degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Chartered or working towards Chartered or Incorporated status.
• Experience delivering drainage/transportation projects across multiple scheme stages.
• Proficiency with drainage modelling software and tools.
• Understanding of DMRB/UK Rail standards and SuDS Manual.
• Full driving licence for site travel.

Responsibilities

• Providing deliverables and solutions to drainage elements on schemes.
• Production and review of feasibility studies, technical reports, detailed designs and contract documents.
• Checking and reviewing scheme deliverables and supporting information.
• Assist with the technical development of Engineers and Senior Engineers.
• Monitoring and reporting of progress.
• Seeking innovative solutions to deliver best value.
