Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Principal Engineer to shape drainage design for major highway and rail schemes across the UK. You will lead drainage engineering, set technical standards, and coach engineers to deliver sustainable solutions for clients such as National Highways, Transport Scotland, Network Rail, HS2, and local authorities.

Based in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds or London, you’ll work with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver feasibility studies, detailed designs, and contract documents, while

Qualifications

• Degree in an engineering discipline.
• Chartered or working towards Chartered/Incorporated status.
• Experience with drainage modelling software and tools.
• Delivery experience on drainage or transportation schemes.
• Knowledge of DMRB and UK rail standards, SuDS, and related standards.
• Full driving licence required for site travel.

Responsibilities

• Providing deliverables and solutions to drainage elements on schemes and problems
• Producing and reviewing feasibility studies, technical reports, detailed designs and contract documents across projects
• Checking and reviewing scheme deliverables and supporting information
• Assisting with the technical development of Engineers and Senior Engineers
• Monitoring and reporting of progress
• Seeking innovative solutions to achieve best value in service delivery
