Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Drainage Engineer to shape drainage design for UK transport infrastructure across highways and rail, with roles based in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds or London and a hybrid work pattern.

You will deliver high-quality drainage designs from feasibility to detailed design, mentor engineers, and coordinate with clients such as National Highways and Network Rail. Chartered status is expected or in progress, with knowledge of DMRB and SuDS.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or similar discipline.
• Chartered status or working towards Chartered/ Incorporated.
• Working knowledge of H&S legislation.
• Experience delivering drainage/transport projects.
• Understanding of DMRB and UK rail standards, SuDS Manual.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality drainage designs across feasibility, detailed design, and contract documentation stages.
• Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary collaboration with clients and other technical teams.
• Drive project performance by monitoring progress and forecasting costs.
• Champion innovation and sustainable drainage delivery methods.
• Ensure compliance and quality, including CDM Designer responsibilities.
