Job summary

DWP Digital in the United Kingdom is seeking a senior DevOps specialist to lead the development of our technical landscape and define what DevOps looks like across the organisation. You will mentor DevOps engineers, shape standards, and oversee CI/CD pipelines, IaC, and cloud platforms.

Expect collaboration with multiple teams, hands-on troubleshooting of Kubernetes on Azure, and ongoing journey to improve reliability, security and scalability.

Qualifications

• Significant experience as a DevOps specialist across multiple teams and defining standards.
• Experience mentoring DevOps engineers in agile environments.
• Strong background in version control and building/maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI or Jenkins).
• Proficient in Infrastructure-as-code and cloud provider configurations.
• Experience with containerisation and orchestration.
• Proficiency in Bash, Python or similar scripting languages.
• Extensive experience with Azure cloud platforms from design to production.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot Kubernetes deployments on Azure and improve engineering standards.
• Mentor a DevOps Engineer and review Terraform designs.
• Help shape future direction of platforms and teams with senior leaders.
• Enable teams to own and operate their infrastructure, promoting DevOps culture.
• Work with technologies like AKS, GitLab, Argo and Helm.
