Job summary

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Digital Debt Services in Leeds is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to drive modern cloud-enabled infrastructure. You will build a DevOps culture, lead Senior DevOps Engineers, and collaborate with agile teams to deliver resilient services that protect the most vulnerable in society.

You'll champion engineering standards, own infrastructure ownership across software and platform teams, mentor engineers, and shape recruitment strategies to scale

Qualifications

• Define and refine organisation engineering standards across teams.
• Foster a culture of ownership for infrastructure alongside software development.
• Create capability through training, coaching and practice alignment.
• Ensure digital services adhere to recognised standards and best practices.
• Lead DevOps recruitment efforts with senior leaders to build capable teams.
• Mentor engineers and provide support to junior and trainee staff.

Responsibilities

• Work across multiple teams as an engineering specialist defining and refining organisation engineering standards.
• Push a mindset and culture change within the organisation to foster engineering ownership of infrastructure development alongside software engineering activities.
• Create capability, through training opportunities, pastoral care and practice alignment.
• Be responsible for ensuring our digital services are adhering to standards and best practice.
• Be responsible for recruitment within the DevOps community and working with senior leaders to ensure strategically the teams are setup to succeed.
• Be responsible for mentoring and support of engineers and trainee DevOps engineers.
