Job summary

Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to drive a DevOps culture and line manage Senior DevOps Engineers within Debt Services. You will lead cross-functional squads, define standards and build capability across the organisation, delivering Azure-based infrastructure and modern microservices.

The role involves mentoring engineers, recruiting within the DevOps community, and evolving practices with technologies like GitLab, Terraform, Argo and Helm in a government

Qualifications

• Experience leading DevOps teams in large organisations.
• Strong knowledge of Azure cloud services and Kubernetes.
• Experience implementing DevOps practices and standards.

Responsibilities

• Define and refine organisational engineering standards.
• Push a mindset and culture change to foster engineering ownership of infrastructure alongside software engineering activities.
• Create capability through training opportunities, pastoral care and practice alignment.
• Be responsible for ensuring our digital services adhere to standards and best practice.
• Be responsible for recruitment within the DevOps community and work with senior leaders to ensure teams are set up to succeed.
• Mentor and support engineers and trainee DevOps engineers.
