Job summary

Murphy is recruiting a Design Manager (Energy Team) to support National Grid, ETP Framework, based in Kentish Town and to assist substation builds in London and the South. You will lead the engineering design delivery across HV substation projects and manage design at tender/ECI stages, coordinating multiple disciplines and ensuring CDM compliance.

The role requires experience in multi-disciplinary design packages, UK substation project delivery, and membership of a UK engineering institute;

Qualifications

• Experience managing multi-disciplinary design packages.
• Experience carrying out the role of Principal Designer Representative under CDM 2015.
• Experience delivering substation projects for UK Transmission Service Operators is desirable.
• Membership of a UK Engineering institute.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering design delivery of existing major Transmission HV 132/275/400kV Substation new builds and extensions.
• Lead Design Management requirements at tender and/or Early Contractor Engagement stage and allocate resources.
• Integrate HV Plant, Protection and Control and Civils from internal/external designers and OEMs.
• Act as Principal Design Representative ensuring design information is properly managed under CDM 2015 regulations.
• Contribute to continuous design management process improvement within the Business Unit.
• Review design pack submissions for technical compliance, quality and completeness.
• Monitor procurement and expedite key engineering programme issues.
