Murphy is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the engineering design delivery for high‑voltage transmission projects and to manage multi‑discipline teams across tender and detailed design stages.

Based in the UK, you will coordinate HV Plant, Protection & Control and Civils, ensure CDM 2015 compliance, and drive continuous improvement in design management processes within the Energy Team for major Grid assets.

Qualifications

• Experience managing multi-disciplinary design packages on HV Power Projects.
• Electrical engineering education (degree level).
• Experience as Principal Designer Representative under CDM 2015.
• Experience delivering substation projects for UK Transmission Service Operators is desirable.
• Membership of a UK Engineering institute.

Responsabilités

• Lead the engineering design delivery of existing major Transmission HV 132/275/400kV Substation projects.
• Lead Design Management at tender/ECI stage and allocate resources during tender, FEED and detailed design.
• Integrate HV Plant, Protection & Control and Civils from internal/external teams and OEMs.
• Act as Principal Design Representative ensuring CDM 2015 compliance.
• Support process improvements in Business Unit and Group Design Management.
• Review design packs for technical compliance, quality and completeness.
• Develop and assist the project planners with maintaining design/engineering programmes.
• Monitor procurement and coordinate with the Business Unit Procurement function.
• Coordinate with Temporary Works Coordinators to ensure constructability and permanent works.
• Understand contracts with Design Consultants including fees, schedules and liabilities.

A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Engineering Manager:

• Lead the engineering design delivery of existing major Transmission HV 132/275/400kV Substation new build and extension projects.
• Lead Design Management requirements at tender and/or Early Contractor Engagement stage and allocate resources as appropriate during tender, FEED, and detailed design stages.
• Integrate multiple engineering disciplines including HV Plant, Protection and Control and Civils from a mix of internal and external designers and OEMs.
• Undertake the role of Principal Design Representative on project(s) ensuring design information is being suitable managed to the various roles and compliant with the requirements of CDM 2015 Regulations.
• Involvement in the development of Business Unit and Group Design Management continual process improvement activities.
• Review design pack submissions as required for technical compliance, quality and completeness.
• Develop and assist the project Planners with maintaining the design and engineering aspect of programmes.
• Monitor and expedite key engineering programme issues including the procurement of services and equipment to the Business Unit Procurement function.
• Review and liaise with internal Temporary Works Coordinators and Designers to ensure appropriate consideration of constructability and required permanent works.
• Ensure an understanding of, and an influence on the contracts Design Consultants are working under including their fees, schedule of services, programme, and liabilities and warranties.
• Review and comment the payment applications from consultants and pass to the contract surveyor for processing and payment.
