Job summary

Wates is seeking a Senior Design Manager to lead on the HMP Hindley project in the UK, guiding design strategy on a complex, high-impact custodial redevelopment to drive safety, improved facilities and rehabilitation outcomes.

On-site leadership will involve coordinating multidisciplinary design across all stages, working with the Principal Design Manager, consultants, and stakeholders to deliver compliant, value-driven solutions on time.

• Proven experience leading design on large-scale construction projects.
• Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the on-site design function across all delivery stages.

• Ensure design solutions are practical, compliant, and aligned to schedule.
• Drive innovation, risk management, and continuous improvement within design.
