Job summary

Omexom Uk is seeking a Principal Design Engineer to provide expert-level design input for HV/EHV underground cable systems across major UK infrastructure projects. You will lead design activities, ensure compliance with standards, and drive innovation in cable system design.

You will mentor junior engineers and engage with industry bodies to stay ahead of trends in HV/EHV technology. Strong technical leadership and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (Master’s advantageous).
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership with relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead across HV/EHV cable system design for safe, robust, compliant solutions.
• Oversee complex cable design packages (33kV and above) from concept to detailed design.
• Develop and maintain internal design standards, templates and tools for HV/EHV cables.
• Ensure all design deliverables meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Perform and supervise thermal, electrical, ampacity, and mechanical analyses using CYMCAP, ELEK, AutoCAD.
