Job summary

Speedy Powered Access in Ossett is seeking a Depot Engineering Manager to lead our Powered Access Service Engineers, ensuring fleet safety, compliance and readiness for hire. You will combine hands-on technical expertise with strong people leadership to deliver reliable service.

The role is Monday–Friday with a company vehicle provided, offering a clear path to develop your team, improve processes and contribute to ESG and safety standards.

Qualifications

• CAP registration and at least five years' experience in powered access.
• Experience with equipment from Niftylift, Skyjack, Genie, Haulotte and JLG.
• Strong fault-finding across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic drawings.
• Experience estimating repairs and managing maintenance requirements.
• Solid understanding of fleet compliance, safety standards and equipment maintenance.
• Excellent organisational skills with ability to manage workloads and prioritise.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with a focus on developing others.
• Customer-focused approach and drive to deliver results.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop a team of Powered Access Service Engineers.
• Oversee servicing, refurbishment, repair and maintenance of the powered access fleet.
• Ensure equipment is safe, compliant and available for hire; maximise fleet reliability.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance; support complex fault finding and repairs.
• Plan and prioritise workloads to ensure safe, timely repairs and maintenance.
• Manage repair estimates; ensure quality work with cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with depot and operations teams to deliver great customer experience.
• Champion health and safety; ensure compliance with standards and legislation.
• Drive continuous improvement in processes, productivity and fleet availability.
• Support ESG Strategy and sustainable practices.
