Job Description

The Lead Data Specialist is part of the wider Pensions Data Service Delivery (DSD) Team. The DSD Team is a revenue-generating team within the pension administration business, responsible for data analysis, reporting, and cleansing, delivering specific data improvement activities aligned with clients’ strategic goals. Tasks may include data projects supporting Pensions Dashboard, buy-in, buy-out exercises, automation programmes, GMP rectification, and GMP equalisation.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Own and deliver complex data projects and tasks accurately, on time, and within scope and budget, with early identification and highlighting of out-of-scope/out-of-budget work and other constraints.
  2. Communicate project progress to DSDT leads, addressing challenges and implementing solutions promptly.
  3. Support the production of technical data reports for client proposals and project closures, understanding and referencing client data project goals.
  4. Participate in internal and external meetings for scope discussions, project remit agreements, and presenting data reports and analysis findings.
  5. Price new data projects and tasks appropriately to ensure commercial viability and timely delivery.
  6. Serve as a technical reference point for DSDT on non-standard queries and complex issues, sharing knowledge to support the team.
  7. Maintain accurate tracking of management information data related to workload and ensure all chargeable work is correctly recorded on timesheets for billing.
  8. Provide absence cover for Team Managers.

Requirements
  • Excellent technical knowledge of UK occupational pensions with a proven record of delivering high-quality data projects within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, with experience managing data project tasks and projects in a pensions data environment.
  • Proven ability to identify challenges and resolve them efficiently, ensuring projects are delivered to quality, time, and scope requirements.
  • Excellent time management skills, capable of prioritizing multiple projects effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an inclusive team environment.
  • Excellent communication and advanced numerical skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
