Job summary

Hippo Digital Limited in Leeds is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join our growing data practice. You will lead a multidisciplinary team to design, build and scale data pipelines, governance, and analytics platforms for public and private sector clients.

You will act as a technical leader, mentor engineers, and drive strategic data engineering deliverables, while maintaining strong client relationships and promoting best practices in CI/CD, cloud, and data modelling.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering data solutions in Python and another core language.
• Strong SQL skills and relational database experience.
• Cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP) and Snowflake/dbt knowledge.
• Proven data pipeline development and leadership on complex projects.
• Excellent communication and agile/CI‑CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of data platforms and pipelines for clients.
• Mentor and guide engineers; manage stakeholder expectations.
• Partner with data, design, and delivery teams to solve complex problems.
• Drive technical bids, proposals, and new business opportunities.
