Job summary

National Highways is strengthening its Digital Services function and recruiting Lead Data Engineers to help design, develop and deliver data products that create organisational value across the transport network. This hybrid role is based in the UK with two in-office days per week and opportunities to work with enterprise data, governance and modern analytics tools.

Qualifications

• Experience building and deploying data pipelines and data integration solutions in a collaborative delivery environment.
• Experience analysing source systems and datasets to create reusable data assets for analytics and reporting.
• Proficiency with Python and SQL in enterprise data platforms and cloud ecosystems (Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory).
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders and a track record of delivery.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the Data as a Service (DaaS) roadmap by onboarding enterprise data and expanding analytical capabilities.
• Design, build and enhance data pipelines, integrations and reusable data assets across the DaaS platform.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand analytical needs and deliver trusted data products for operational and strategic decisions.
• Embed data governance, quality, and metadata management across the data lifecycle.
