Job summary

Sonovate is seeking a Lead Data Engineer in the UK to own end-to-end data products—from data acquisition to analytics-enabled features in our SaaS platform. You will drive architectural decisions, coach peers, and lead complex pipeline improvements across Python, SQL, dbt, and Snowflake within a primarily Azure ecosystem.

You will work remotely with regular visits to Cardiff or London, collaborating with infrastructure and software engineering teams to deliver resilient data capabilities and

Qualifications

• Extensive experience integrating APIs and working with structured and semi-structured data (e.g. JSON, Avro, XML), including batch and streaming pipelines.
• Leads design on feature-level complexity problems, breaking down medium-sized engineering challenges independently.
• Coaches others on design patterns, domain knowledge, and engineering practices.
• Demonstrates a track record of taking data products from proof-of-concept through to production.
• Proficient with Git and Azure DevOps for source control and CI/CD orchestration; comfortable with a range of CI build tools and automation.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end data products delivery from acquisition to analytical enablement.
• Lead root cause analysis on complex platform issues and evaluate new tooling.
• Coach peers on engineering practices and patterns.
• Collaborate with Principal Software Engineers and Head of IT infrastructure to influence broader decisions.
